Why cloud storage is not the end-all for file backups. Using a physical backup is what is best for historical purposes.
I recommend cold storage, of offline storage, for personal files because you cannot totally trust the cloud. You files can becomes compromised for different reasons in the cloud than in your own offline storage, so it is best to use both at the same time.
Recommended are 2 x external USB SSD's, one master and one synchronized as a failsafe.
Additionally recommended is an automatic synchronization with a cloud service to your master backup SSD drive.
Additionally recommended is an automatic file save every 5 minutes. Why? You could be losing your best ideas! Losing-Your-Progress You certainly wouldn't want to lose 15+ minutes of mapping either. . . Objective-Based-Burst-Mapping
This ensures if your computer fails to boot, your files are not affected. If you lose your internet, your files are not affected. If your hard drive fails, you have two additional redundancies.
If you happen to be Mapping-In-Public on your seldom used laptop, you don't necessarily need a wifi connection if you come prepared and have a backup hard drive with all your files.
